Dear My
We have closed the first month of the year, and I am happy that it’s been a strong start for our community and our province.
Health care continues to be a priority. The Ontario government is investing up to $8 million to plan 16 new and expanded primary care teaching clinics, connecting 300,000 more people to primary care. This is part of our $2.1 billion Primary Care Action Plan, which has already connected over 275,000 patients to care and reduced the waitlist by more than 75%. These clinics will not only improve access to care but also train the next generation of primary care clinicians right here in Ontario, ensuring that anyone who wants care can get it, no matter where they live.
Locally, I had the honour of marking a special milestone at the future Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre. Signing the final structural beam alongside community members, Premier Doug Ford, and my colleagues at Queen’s Park was a reminder of why this work on the new hospital matters. Each step brings us closer to expanded, high-quality care for our families.
Investments in infrastructure and community safety are also moving forward. We are investing $24.3 million to upgrade and expand Mississauga’s aging water systems, part of a $875 million plan supporting 127 municipalities and First Nations. I was also proud to join Solicitor General Michael Kerzner and Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah at the Tripartite Peel Region Anti-Extortion Summit, taking steps to protect local families and businesses from this growing threat.
January also gave us meaningful opportunities to celebrate Tamil Heritage Month and honour the legacy of Lincoln Alexander on January 21, as we now celebrate Black History Month in February.
I am pleased to invite residents to our free community ice skating program every Saturday from February 7 to March 21 from 2.15 pm to 3.45 pm, hosted by my office and a great way for families and neighbours to stay active and connected this winter.

Ontario gets ‘A’ on red tape reduction report card
Ontario has earned its first A grade on the Canadian Federation of Independent Business’s Red Tape Report Card, demonstrating our government’s progress in saving taxpayers’ money and reducing costs for businesses who drive our economy. Temporary Road Closure Impacting Queensway East and Stanfield Road
Peel Region has identified the need for upgrades to the sanitary sewer and watermain system along The Queensway. As part of this program, the region will be replacing a section of large diameter watermain at Stanfield Road and Queensway East. At this stage, a temporary road closure and turning lane reduction will be required to complete this work. Detour maps can be seen by clicking the link below.
Ontario’s new Blue Box recycling program has rolled out in Mississauga and across the province. Many of you have reached out about missed or delayed collections, and I understand the frustration this has caused. The transition shifts recycling responsibility from municipalities to producers, with Circular Materials overseeing the program and GFL handling local collection in Mississauga. The goal is to reduce costs for taxpayers while creating a stronger, province-wide recycling system. Our government introduced these changes to create a more efficient and sustainable recycling system for the future. To residents experiencing collection challenges, our government is closely watching how the rollout is working on the ground. We are listening to residents and are prepared to make changes where needed. You will also find more helpful information about the transition in this email.
